Plan the Coffee Bar in Three Zones

Set up a brew zone, a cup zone and a supply zone. The machine and grinder sit in the brew zone, next to the outlet.

Mugs go on the wall or on the shelf right above the machine. Beans, tea and packets sit within one arm's reach of the brew zone.

Measure Under the Upper Cabinets

Measure from the counter to the bottom of the upper cabinets. Most canisters and caddies need to clear that gap with room for your hand.

The OXO coffee canister is 6.3 in tall and the SipStation caddy is 8.5 in tall, per their makers.

Use the Wall for Mugs

A rail with hooks frees a whole shelf. The HULTARP rail is 23½ in long, and IKEA sells the wall screws separately, so pick screws that suit your wall.

Each HULTARP hook holds up to 9 lb, which leaves room for a heavy mug.
